The founders of Southern Dutch BBQ are Tom Raes and Dorine van Geffen. The pair started their blog in 2012 to share their barbecue adventures with the rest of the world. On their journey to learn everything they could about American barbecue, they stumbled upon the KCBS competition. They cooked at their first competition in 2013, which turned out to be a turning point. Since then, they have fallen in love with the world of competition, and now they compete worldwide, aiming to serve the best and most delicious meats – to the judges and their dear friends.

The drive for daily improvement pushes Tom and Dorine, who have learned from the best pitmasters in the USA, such as Tuffy Stone and Travis Clark.

Their mission today is to breathe, feel, and live barbecue every single day, and to share their passion and know-how with everyone interested in the culture, the sport, or simply great food. Barbecue and competition are more than just a passion; they are a way of life for Dorine and Tom. Barbecue has taken them to places they would never have reached otherwise, and it still sparks lifelong friendships.
